Oro Fiesta Volleyball expects 'huge turnout'

Lynde Salgados

WITH a cool P80,000 cash plus trophy awaiting each of the men and women's team champions, a huge turnout of participants is expected in the 3rd Cagayan de Oro Fiesta Volleyball Open Tournament.

The tournament will be held on August 23-26 simultaneously at the Corpus Christi gym in Macasandig and the nearby Nazareth gym with around P400,000 in total cash prizes.

Last year, Cagayan de Oro's volleyball fans were treated with much grit and fanfare when the good-looking Myla Pablo led the Pocari Sweat-backed Philippine Air Force in winning the 2nd Higalaay Festival Volleyball Women's Open.

"As usual, some of the country's volleyball stars will be coming over again to provide full-blast entertainment. Alegre kini sama sa una," said tournament organizer Alex Adeva.

The 3rd Higalaay Volleyball Open offers P80,000, P50,000, P30, 000 and P20,000 for the top 4 performing teams in each category.

Already listed in men's division are the Good Health-Manila, Philippine Army-Manila, Philippine Navy A-Manila, Philippine Navy B-Manila, RGV Ormoc-Manila/Cebu, Aisha Legends-Davao, Equi Parco-MisOr, Invictus-MisOr/Cebu, Exodus-CDO/Manila, IMCC-Iligan, STC-Tagum City and CDO Youth-CDO/Cebu.
