TAGOLOAN town, considered as hometown of two great cagers--Jerome Numeran and Buboy Tanigue--who apparently died too early, aims to dominate the 2018-2019 Kuyamis hoopfest which comes to a close Thursday, January 10 at the Capitol ground here.

The Tarantula dribblers stand a good chance to nail two titles as they battle the Alubijid hoopsters for the 18-under crown at 10 am and the Opol Dolphins (3:30 p.m.)for the premier 25-under diadem.

Talisayan and Villanueva will dispute the first Kuyamis basketball plum at 9 am, even as the Bambi Sports will see action at lunch break against the third placer in LGU division.

“In their young minds, dili malimtan sa mga batan-ong basketbolista sa Tagoloan ang legacy nilang Jerome ug Buboy nga ilang gi-idol sa una,” said Danilo Jaminal, head of Kuyamis basketball referees, referring to the bull-strong center Numeran and streak-shooting guard Tanigue.

Games for volleyball finals pit Alubijid vs Magsaysay (18U), Sugbongcogon vs Magsaysay (LGU), Initao vs Tagoloan (Women’s Open) and Initao vs Tagoloan (Men’s Open).

In the last season of the Kuyamis Sportsfest, it can be recalled that Jasaan dislodged Tagoloan as the 2017-2018 champion of the province’s Inter-Municipality

Basketball Tournament.

This, after Jasaan swept the reigning titlist Tagoloan, 2-0 in their best-of-3 championship series concluded last Jan. 10.

Jasaan crushed Tagoloan in the opener, 87-75 then repeated the feat in Game 2, 107-104 for the title glory worth P50,000 cash, courtesy of Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano.

“We're inviting the basketball fans in the locality to watch the championship games tomorrow (today) kay sigurado nga malingaw gyod sila,” said Provincial Board member and Kuyamis sports coordinator Prexy Elipe.
