Team Alam Na in third straight title romp off

Lynde Salgados

MARVIN Luke Neri flashed an MVP performance, and Macmac Labares and Naknak del Castillo joined him in double digits production as Team Alam Na completed a 2-0 sweep against Team Dokie via a 110-87 blow out in the recent Green CdeO Eagles President Cup 2018 Finals at Brgy. Patag gym, Cagayan de Oro City.

Unlike their series opener being decided in overtime play, Team Dokie—which paraded the huge pair of Loloy Gelogo and Rex Armojallas—could not match Team Alam Na’s intensity to easily fall by the wayside.

“Di kokasabot, mora’g dili championship game among dula,” said team-playing manager Dr. Wilbourne Neri after the lopsided Game 2.

From the start, Dokie’s charges seemed focused on clipping the Eagle wings of Alam Na’s top gunner Labares, only to find out `John Lloyd’ Neri as their main problem.

Whatever Neri did from an array of aggressive assaults from almost all corners of the court amazingly turned gold for Team Alam Na’s third-straight titular conquest under the baton of team playing managers Anjun `Con-Air’ Gomez and defense specialist Yogi Hembrador and head coach LJ Aquino.

“Galibog ilang depensa kay si Labares ilang giseguro pero nibuto man si John Lloyd unya nangigo pud among Sir Chef (del Castillo),” a beaming Gomez, the NMR-1’s own version of Zoren Legaspi, later told SunStar Cagayan de Oro.

Team Alam Na is also sharing the lead in the ongoing NMR-1 Governor’s Cup hoopfest.
