165 hired on the spot in Kalayaan job fair

AT LEAST 165 job seekers were hired on the spot in the recently held Kalayaan Job Fair of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) 7.

Dole 7 said the number is expected to increase within days after the job fair since there are about 350 applicants who have been placed under the near-hire category.

Dubbed “Kalayaan: Online Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan Job and Business Fair,” the job fair was virtually held on June 8-12, 2021. It was Dole 7’s celebration of the Philippine Independence Day on June 12.

The event recorded a total of 12,995 local vacancies offered by 49 participating employers and 4,127 applicants.

It also posted 2,094 overseas vacancies offered by three participating employers and announced by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration. Around 222 applicants have been monitored, 29 of them are in the stage of being nearly hired.

Dole 7 also held employment coaching sessions for Grade 12 Senior High School and fourth-year college students in Central Visayas while the Department of Trade and Industry organized webinars on entrepreneurial mind setting and consumer advocacy. (NRC, PR)
