4th quarter production grows 1.8%

AGRICULTURE grew by 1.80 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported. Crops, livestock, poultry and fisheries contributed to the higher production during the quarter. At current prices, the gross value of agricultural production amounted to P521.2 billion, higher by 4.05 percent than the previous year’s level. From January to December 2018, agricultural production increased by 0.56 percent. Crop production slightly increased by 0.25 percent, accounting for 50.40 percent of the total agricultural output. Livestock registered a 1.64 percent increase in production, contributing 17.74 percent to the total agricultural production. Poultry production expanded by 6.99 percent during the quarter, accounting for 16.18 percent to the total agricultural output. Fisheries production went up by 1.93 percent, with a 15.68 percent share in the total agricultural output. (PR)
