DUE to the decreasing number of over-the-counter (OTC) bank transactions, the Cebu Bankers Club has passed a resolution that further shortened banking hours.

Resolution 03/17, approved on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, called for shortened bank hours from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"The number of OTC transactions in the banks for the past two days have significantly dropped for more than 60 percent on an average due to mobility restrictions imposed by the local government," the resolution stated.

CBC said bank personnel are also considered as frontliners in this critical period and must be "protected from the clear and present threat of coronavirus by limiting their exposure."

It will be effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020, or upon the member bank's discretion. (JOB)
