BSP sees December inflation inching up to 1.8-2.6%

Sunnexdesk

THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas projects December 2019 inflation to settle within the 1.8 – 2.6 percent range.

Higher electricity rates and oil prices together with the impact of weather-related disturbances on selected food items are the primary sources of upward price pressures for the month.

Meanwhile, inflation could be tempered by the continued easing of domestic rice prices.

Looking ahead, the BSP will remain watchful of evolving price trends and ensure that the monetary policy stance remains appropriate to maintain price stability that is conducive to a balanced and sustainable economic growth. (CSL)
