THE Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants-Cebu Chapter (Picpa Cebu Chapter) to conduct accounting and tax mentoring sessions.

The MOA aims to solidify the collaboration between both organizations.

As part of its corporate social responsibility and professional development programs, Picpa Cebu Chapter will lend its expertise and facilitate tax and accounting business seminars for CCCI’s members.

CCCI, on the other hand, will take care of the program’s participants and facilities.

An advisory issued by CCCI explained the need for businesses to be guided on the “increasingly complex tax rules” amid the “more rigorous and coordinated enforcement by tax authorities.”

“Having such a program would reduce risk, increase efficiency, provide an organization with insights into their businesses, facilitate better strategic alignment and enhance the organization’s brand,” said CCCI president Virgilio Espeleta Jr.

Espeleta and Picpa Cebu Chapter president and P&A Grant Thornton head of Cebu and Davao branches Wendell Ganhinhin signed the agreement, with Cebu Business Month chairperson Lilu Aliño, CCCI corporate secretary Francis Dy, CCCI vice president for finance Felix Taguiam and Picpa Cebu Chapter incoming president Maria Asuncion Benlot.

The mentoring program was launched during the Entrepreneur’s Summit of Cebu Business Month on June 13, 2019. (PR)
