Central Visayas grows 7.6%

THE Central Visayas economy expanded by 7.6 percent in 2018, faster than the 5.2 percent growth in 2017, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) 7.

The services sector grew by 7.0 percent in 2018 from 6.5 percent in 2017. Industry likewise grew by 9.5 percent from 3.0 percent.

The agriculture, hunting, forestry, and fishing‘ sector slowed down, growing at a much slower pace of 1.4 percent compared to 6.8 percent in 2017.

The region was the fourth largest contributor to the national gross domestic product. (KOC)
