THE Department of Tourism (DOT) in Central Visayas is eyeing the Vietnamese tourism market anew, as it promoted the island provinces of Cebu and Bohol in a product update as destinations when travel routes resume soon.

DOT-Central Visayas Director Shahlimar Tamano, in a Together as One webinar series on Friday, December 11, 2020, featuring Cebu and Bohol, enjoined tourism stakeholders to visit both islands, saying tourist destinations remain prime and are now equipped with new normal health protocols.

"We aim to position both islands as a choice destination for Vietnamese travelers. Cebu and Bohol, with its prime attraction of white sand beaches, sharks and dolphin encounters, waterfalls and adventure trails, countryside circuits and fantastic diving experiences have been on the map," he said.

Recently, international travel magazine Condé Nast declared Cebu as the Best Island in Asia in this year’s “The Best Islands in the World: 2020 Readers' Choice Awards," besting other favorites like Thailand and Sri Lanka.

The region's diving spots in Moalboal, Cebu and Bohol also took the global spotlight as the Philippines received the award as the Best Overseas Diving Area in the Marine Diving Awards 2020 held recently in Tokyo. (JOB)
