Lapu-Lapu City to award micro, small biz in next year’s tax award

TO RECOGNIZE the efforts of the small scale businesses, the Lapu-Lapu City Government will include micro businesses in next year’s taxpayer’s awards.

In a speech, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, said this would bring the spotlight to the flourishing community of small and medium businesses in the city.

“I would also like to announce that next year, Lapu-Lapu City will be adding another category to our taxpayer awards. And this time, it will be for our top micro-business stakeholders to give opportunities for our small and medium scale businesses to be recognized,” he said.

On Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, the City Government recognized the top taxpayers which Chan described as the major growth drivers of the local economy of Lapu-Lapu.

“My administration believes that every business, no matter how large or small its capital may be, has equal opportunity and is of equal importance to the city. We appreciate your contribution in the city’s success and development,” he said.

Awardees

The GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. was hailed as the top taxpayer under the corporation-realty tax category and the top six in business tax, while Adventenergy Inc. was awarded as the top taxpayer in business tax.

Megaworld Corp. placed second in the realty tax. Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa placed third for realty tax and second for business tax.

Other awardees for realty tax were Viscal Development Corp., Knowles Electronics (Phils.) Corp., Filinvest Land Inc., Phil. BXT Corp., Tai-Pan Development Inc., Waterfront Mactan Casino Hotel Inc. and Goldland Phils. Corp.

Other awardees for business tax were Lear Automotive Services, Taiyo Yuden (Phils) Inc., Fairchild Semiconductor, GMCAC, Freemont Foods Corp. / Jollibee, Sanford Marketing Corp. / Savemore-Marina Mall, J.S. Unitrade Merchandise Inc. and General Milling Corp. (JOB)
