Pandemic sparks buying of properties in mountains

THE coronavirus pandemic has created a rush in buying nature-inspired properties.

This was what Syntech Properties Inc., a Singapore-based developer, noticed since the start of the lockdowns in Cebu Province due to the global spread of Covid-19.

“The pandemic is a blessing in disguise because people are seeing the value of nature and are investing in residential properties that offer inclusive living,” said Mild Relator, marketing manager for Syntech Properties Inc., a Singapore-based developer.

The past months have brought new sales to properties in the mountains, especially for those looking for second homes that offer sustainable living conditions. Since the spread of Covid-19, people have wanted to move to an environment that is spacious and safe.

According to Anita Blanco, Syntech sales manager, the bulk of the sales came from overseas Filipinos.

Syntech Properties developed a retirement village in the hills of Balamban called Amonsagana. The 38-hectare development is located in Mandayao Hills in Barangay Pondol that is 45 kilometers west of Cebu City. Its Phase 1 development named “Saga Tierra” offers 66 house and lot units.

Syntech’s first Cebu project is City Lights, which is located in Nivel Hills, an uphill area in the city standing more than a hundred meters above sea level.

Meanwhile, Colliers International Philippines senior research manager Joey Roi Bondoc said the demand for house and lot and lot only projects in Cebu remains stable amid the impact of Covid-19 on the property sector.

He said the infrastructure projects and the decentralization of economic activities are factors that will attract more investments to Cebu. (KOC)
