LAUDABLE. I have it from foremost movie director Carlo J. Caparas that his pure intention to help Cebuano talents prompted him to produce and write “Jacqueline Comes Home” based on the very sensational Chiong sisters’ abduction in 1997. However, he has delegated the directorial task to his daughter Ysabelle Peach. So on her part, it’s like a baptism of fire but I know she can deliver. I commend Direk Carlo, a non-Cebuano, for his effort in tapping local stars. His aim to help “resurrect” the local movie industry deserves all the support from well-meaning Visayans.

GOOD. I have observed Peach in her directorial assignment and I could say that she’s good at what she’s doing. The passion to do well as film director is there. Filming of this true-to-life story is still going on; it could last up to the end of this month.

CHEERS. On a personal note, allow me to congratulate my very good friend Master Judith Ballesteros-Eugenio, a certified Feng Shui practitioner, on the launching of her one-hour radio program over dyPC 88.7 FM. It airs every Saturday, 2 to 3 p.m. This columnist is her co-anchor.

SHOW. It was a highly entertaining and successful variety show that Jet Gonzales, Annabelle Rama’s Man Friday, staged recently at the Medellin municipal gym. It was produced by the sugar planters and millers based in Bogo and Medellin, led by Jose Mari Miranda. The performers were Epoy the magician, the Bulabog Boys comic duo, novelty singer June Villarta and Jet himself.
