LEGALLY Hija Foundation Inc., a locally developed women empowerment and violence against women non-profit organization, hosted an international virtual event from March 8 to April 2, 2021 with over 50 Filipino and international participants.

Legally Hija Foundation Inc. is founded by a local 18-year-old Cebuana, Sophia Marie Pintor, an 11th grade student at the De La Salle University Integrated School. Sophia is committed to expanding her violence against women activism from the Philippine borders to International waters. Through Legally Hija, she helps women understand the dynamics of the fight against sex offenders guilty or charged with assault, exploitation and trafficking of persons in the Philippine and global context.

After concluding her previous 2020 Violence Against Women Philippine virtual event “Empower Wall,” Sophia was inspired to launch her first global virtual event together with an international women’s rights organization, Purple Hearts Project.

Both organizations, Legally Hija and Purple Hearts Project, were able to gather 50 diverse participants from Istanbul, India, Hong Kong, Ghana, Bulgaria, Turkey, the United States and the Philippines. The participants were tasked to send a message about which social inequality issue they choose to challenge in 2021 and to send a picture of themselves. This international project was hosted on their Instagram pages, @legallyhija and @purpleheartsproject.

In celebration of the success from the collaboration of both organizations, Purple Hearts Project invited Legally Hija to be its first guest in the Purple Hearts Project Podcast Series on Spotify and Soundcloud. SPONSORED CONTENT
