2 Cebuanos among ‘10 Filipino Living Legends’ in commemorative stamps

INDUSTRIAL/furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue and fashion designer Monique Lhuillier join the list of Filipino icons that grace the Philippine Postal Corp.’s (Post Office) new commemorative stamps “Living Legends: World-Renowned Filipinos” (Series 1).

Post Office Postmaster General and chief executive officer Norman N. Fulgencio led the unveiling of the commemorative stamps on Nov. 13, 2021. The event was monumental—it marked the 75th year since the first stamp of the Republic of the Philippines was issued, and the 254th anniversary of the founding of the Philippine Postal Service.

This “World-Renowned Filipinos Series” release is the first of three—the next two will be “Outstanding Filipinos Series” and “Never Forgotten Series.”

Cobonpue and Lhuillier are joined by entrepreneur Dado Banatao, basketball star Jordan Clarkson, lingerie designer Josie Natori, bowling champion Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno, billiards legend Efren “Bata” Reyes, Broadway star Lea Salonga, world chess Hall of Famer Eugene Torre, and the iconic Jollibee mascot.

“[These icons] represent the best and brightest Filipinos whose excellence brought international recognition to the Philippines,” said Fulgencio.
