Art all over Seaside

Monica Lopez

ART is everywhere and has always been a part of our lives. Crafted in different forms and colors, it stirs up a myriad of emotions and is open to all kinds of interpretations.

With this in mind, SM SEASIDE CITY CEBU celebrates and supports the diversity of art with exhibits, shows and installations scheduled within the mall all-year round.

In recent months, mall goers have been left fascinated with different forms of art by its featured artists: the 240 lanterns and more than a hundred scrolls by the Chan Lim Family of Artists and Students during the Chinese New Year; the mural paintings depicting the Cebu lifestyle created by the 632 Gallery group of artists namely Anne Amores, Astraberry, Lil Monet, Mural Supply, Siamese Rat and Panu Yu showcasing a picturesque display of the Cebuano way of life; and the Seaside Sides With The Seas: Trashion Sculpture Exhibit by Francis Sollano, fusing creativity and environmentalism.

During the unveiling of Art All Over, guests were surprised with another creation called Floating Mass, a suspended art installation dangling at Cube Wing Atrium’s roomy hall. Designed by world-renowned artist Gabby Lichauco and multi-awarded international designer Stanley Ruiz, the Floating Mass presents a lightness and fluidity in motion, making for an interactive experience.

It’s been apparent since its opening that art goes hand in hand with the city’s premiere shopping destination. With the string of exhibits and shows depicting art, seen and held at different parts of the complex—SM SEASIDE not only welcomes art but embraces its many forms, which shoppers can surely expect will keep on coming.
