It’s ‘ice’ to be back: SM Seaside reopens ice rink to the public after 2 long years

Monique Pardillo

FINALLY, after two long years, SM Seaside Cebu reopened its famous SM ice skating rink to the public on June 30, 2022.

Chill a little bit this summer by gliding on ice and skating away to your heart’s content!

The ice rink, other than being open to the public, is also offering basic ice-skating lessons for those interested in taking their ice-skating skills to the next level. The instructor will be no other than the president of the Philippine Skating Union (PSA) and Council member of the Asian Skating Union, Dyan Leah Dominique C. Cheng. A former competitive ice skater, Nikki is very passionate about encouraging Filipinos to take an interest in the sport of ice skating.

During the reopening, two graceful ice skaters performed an individual number, and they did so flawlessly with utmost ease and elegance. People were then welcomed to the ice rink for the first time in two years, and everyone had a blast. Even the dinosaurs (yes, dinosaurs) took part in the fun and skated to their hearts’ content.

Ice skating students also graced the ice rink, but it is fair to say that the dinosaurs stole the show. People flocked to take pictures with them, and for sure, the dinos were loving every bit of it.

SM Skating is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the third floor. Beat the heat with a little bit of activity on the ice. It is indeed n- “ice” to be back!

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
