New Cadiz City Park: A growing attraction

Erwin R. Mabugat

THE newly-renovated Cadiz City Park has attracted more visitors daily, making it a gathering zone of residents, since its inauguration last January 26.

The new City Park, with a land area of 5,580 square meters, is swamped by students and workers every afternoon until late night. It becomes a jogging lane early morning.

The construction, amounting to P22,257,201, started on April 29, 2019 and was completed on December 14, 2019.

A project of Mayor Salvador G. Escalante Jr., the renovation is part of the "Green, Green, Green Program," funded by the Local Government Support Fund - Assistance to Cities (LGSF-AC).

Formerly the Gustilo Park, the Cadiz City Park has all-new features. Prominently, the whale statue stands in the middle, with a water backdrop, as this symbolizes the historic milestone of the City.

As a haven to school children, youth, senior citizens, persons with disability and the Zumba lovers, the well-lit sidewalks and pathways are upgraded to improve usability.

Having a wider open space, the park is blended with more green landscapes, palm trees and other endemic plant species.

The park's mini-amphitheater also fascinates the people as it is an open-air venue used for entertainment, performances and sports.
