Parklane celebrates Sinulog culture with art, fashion

Christian B. Quilo

IN CELEBRATION of the much-anticipated Sinulog Festival, Cebu Parklane International Hotel holds “Sugbuanong Bahandi,” a showcase of Cebuano culture and art. This exhibit is made up of three parts:

“Linya Sugbuana: An Amano Collection by Dexter Alazas” is a curation of the Cebuano designer’s clothing and accessories made with the Hablon de Argao, a locally sourced fabric from the southern municipality; “Sugbuanong Obra” is an exhibit of Ruel Rosello’s contemporary paintings featuring the artist’s signature character “Niño,” inspired by the image of Child Jesus himself; “Balaanong Gasa” is a display of Josie Pereyra’s Sto. Niño collection, a select few from her collection of over 50 relics and images of Sto. Niño and other religious figures, which she started in the 1980s.

On January 15, there will also be a lecture on the history of Sto. Niño and his significance and impact in our religion and culture held at Tupas Hall from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

“Sugbuanong Bahandi” runs until January 31 at the lobby of Cebu Parklane International Hotel.
