Utzurrum: Waterfront Mactan’s virtual hotel resto

Chinggay V. Utzurrum

“HERITAGE,” a gastronomical storybook, was launched by Waterfront Airport Hotel and Caslno. This also happens to be the name of the country’s first virtual restaurant by a hotel.

“Heritage” is the “hotel’s retelling of Filipino tales through food focusing on the various techniques, specialties and recipes of its different regions,” explained executive chef Tristan Encarnacion.

In the first of many chapters of this food story, “Lasa- Innovative Filipino Cuisine” offers a bolder take on Pinoy classics. Chef Tristan and his culinary team concoct dishes using regional techniques and ingredients.

Heritage, a new dining outlet, is unlike the usual restaurant with a set-up of tables, chairs and servers. Here, the menu items and ordering system of this virtual restaurant are all done online.

“Under the new normal, we understand that there are still many people who are wary about leaving their homes unless it is essential. So, we bring the hotel experience to their homes,” said hotel manager Benhur Caballes.

Those thirsting for the “Lasa” courses, or attempting the decadent dessert line “Indulgence” can order via the website or social media accounts of the hotel. They can shoot a message to “Heritage” through the hotel’s Facebook page or through its Instagram @heritage.waterfront. Customers can also call (032) 340-4888 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. to place their orders and note schedules for pick-up or delivery. Food and beverage manager April Pinay requests that orders be made a day in advance to ensure freshness of orders.

Remember, at Waterfront Mactan, guests always come first.
