1 dead, 5 injured as truck falls off cliff

A 46-YEAR-OLD man died while five others were injured past 7 a.m. Friday, October 12, after the delivery truck were riding fell off the cliff in Sitio Dalawan, Barangay Catang, Argao, Cebu.

Police Officer 1 Apolinar Albiso identified the fatality as Ernesto Lapasanan, who succumbed to injuries in the head and other parts of his body.

The injured were Wenceslao Lesias, Jeffrey Gelbolingo, Benjamin Manabit, Victor Entencia Jr., and Laurel Legazpi, 29. Catang, a mountain village, is about 13 kilometers from the town center.

All but Legazpi were brought to Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital for treatment. Albiso Legazpi only suffered bruises.

Investigation showed the truck came from Barangay Talaga, Argao. They were delivering sacks of cement to Catang for the construction of a poultry.

Lesias, the truck driver, claimed that the front left wheel exploded. He lost control of the vehicle, which then fell into the cliff, which is about 30 feet deep.

Albiso said the driver was not drunk at the time of the incident. (KAL)
