1 dead, 1 hurt in hacking incidents over banana

A WOMAN was stabbed to death by her husband past 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, in Sitio Lower, Barangay Tubod, Toledo City, Cebu.

The fatality was identified as Azusina Caballero Cular, 43.

Her husband, Marcelo, surrendered to a police officer living near their village. He told the investigator that he got mad at the victim, who berated him for giving a bundle of bananas to a neighbor.

Marcelo, 36, used a knife in stabbing his wife multiple times.

The couple has three young children.

A parricide complaint will be filed against the suspect before the Toledo City Prosecutor's Office.

In Sitio Buntoran, Barangay Alpaco, City of Naga, Cebu, an argument over a banana plant led a father attacking his son.

At 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, Roland Omandam, 34, landed in the hospital after he was hacked by his father Rolando, 75.

Investigation showed Omandam planted the banana. He got mad after knowing that his father harvested the fruits.

Omandam confronted his father. Irked, Rolando hacked his son using a bolo, hitting the latter in left shoulder.

Omandam was rushed to a hospital, while Rolando was arrested by a barangay tanod (village watchman). (KAL)
