THE Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.’s (RAFI) Culture and Heritage Unit and its partner local government units (LGU), museums and cultural organizations will hold the 12th run of the Gabii sa Kabilin today from 6 p.m. to midnight.

The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), Traffic Patrol Group and Cebu City Police warned the public that they will be implementing temporary road closures for the event.

The heritage night features 29 cultural destinations in the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Talisay.

The theme for this year’s event is “Balangay” to pay tribute to the pre-colonial roots of Philippines, specifically the Bisaya culture.

“Gabii sa Kabilin is drumming up for the 500th anniversary of Magellan’s arrival in the Philippines, which will be celebrated in 2021,” said Florencio Moreño II, curator of Casa Gorordo Museum. “Starting this year, our themes will have reference to that expedition that had critical impact not only on Filipinos, but world, history, which we are experiencing even to this day.”

Selected museums and heritage sites will present different aspects of pre-colonial Bisaya culture.

As for traffic, CCTO said some of the roads will be closed starting 5 p.m. to midnight.

These are Aboitiz St./Lopez Jaena St. (from Mabini St. up to M.J. Cuenco Ave.), Mabini St. (from corner Bonifacio St. up to Urdaneta St.), P. Burgos St. (from V. Gullas St. up to M. C. Briones St.), Colon St. (from D. Jakosalem St. up to Mabini St.), Osmeña Blvd. (from D. Jakosalem St. to Lapulapu St.), among others.
