15 Jerome pawnshop outlets face closure

AT LEAST 15 outlets of Jerome’s Pawnshop & General Merchandise face closure for tax violations and failure to comply with Central Bank requirements.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, in a text message, confirmed that the pawnshop is facing closure but he is giving them time to comply with the requirements.

"Naghatag ko og six-month extension (I gave them a six-month extension) for them to comply with Central Bank requirements," Osmeña said in a text message to SunStar Cebu.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
