2 cops, 'pusher' wounded in shootout

A SUSPECTED drug pusher and two policemen in Mandaue City were hurt during the conduct of a buy-bust operation on A.S. Fortuna Street, Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City Wednesday morning, September 4, 2019.

The buy-bust was conducted outside a funeral parlor along A.S. Fortuna Street. The target of the operation was riding a black sports utility vehicle.

Based on intial reports, the unidentified suspect opened fire when he realized that he was transacting with police officers. Two police officers were hurt during the operation.

An exchange of fire ensued between the suspect and four other members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of Canduman Police Station in Mandaue City as the latter chased the suspect all the way to a hardware store on A.S Fortuna near the Banilad flyover.

The suspect fled his vehicle when police immobilized its tires. The police reportedly shot the suspect on his arm and above his buttocks.

Police revealed that the suspect is a newly identified drug personality.

The three were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. (ANV of Superbalita Cebu; JGS)
