2 fires hit Cebu City; over P13M properties lost

OVER P13 million worth of properties were lost in two fire incidents that burned 23 structures in Cebu City on a rainy Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2022.

A total of 23 families or 115 individuals were affected in the two fires.

Firefighters from the Cebu City Fire Office (CCFO) first responded to the blaze that hit the house of Renato Diaz along Salinas Drive Extension in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City at 3:45 p.m.

Aside from Diaz’s house, seven other houses were also burned. Eight families or 40 individuals were affected in the fire.

The blaze was put out at 4:14 p.m.

Less than an hour later, at 5:13 p.m., the CCFO responded to another fire incident in Sitio Inahan sa Kanunayng Panabang, Barangay San Antonio.

The fire reportedly started in the establishment owned by Vicente Reston, the CCFO reported.

Flames spread and razed 14 other houses and establishments, affecting 15 families or 75 individuals.

Firefighters put out the fire at 5:58 p.m.

Investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the two fire incidents.
