2 nabbed for planting marijuana in their backyard

ELEVEN persons, including marijuana cultivators, were caught in a series of operations conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas.

At 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, alleged backyard growers of marijuana were arrested in Barangay Taloto, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

The PDEA-Central Visayas's Bohol team caught Cres Van Z. Barol and his brother, Van.

Seized from them were 17 fully-grown marijuana plants, two seedlings, 250 grams of marijuana flowers, 250 grams of dried marijuana leaves, and stalks worth P64,300.

Two.38 revolvers and nine bullets were also confiscated from the suspects.

In Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City, agents raided a drug den and caught its maintainer identified as Jacinto Salamanca.

Aside from Salamanca, suspected pushers Marisa Abellanosa and Rachel Lanas were arrested along with alleged drug den visitors Jing Boy Esdrilon, Alejandro Abellar, Raymund Eburda, Jed Villarin, John Basanez, William Hortizano and Arnel Along.

PDEA agents seized 22 packs of suspected shabu that weighed 12 grams worth P81,600 and other non-drug evidence.

Suspects will be facing complaints for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
