3 fires in Cebu City in one day

AT LEAST three fire incidents occurred in Cebu City on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

The first incident was a smoke alarm that occurred at 8:49 a.m. on the third floor of tower 3 of Crown Regency Hotel in uptown Cebu City, which was declared fire out at 9:33 a.m.

Hotel guests and staff immediately evacuated the building.

According to Senior Fire Officer 3 Wendell Villanueva, spokesperson of the Cebu City Fire Office (CCFO), said that the aircon pipe on the third floor of the building, which allegedly caught fire, was the source of the smoke.

CCFO placed the damage at ₱320,000.

Firefighters are still figuring out what caused the incident.

The two other fire incidents occurred in Green Homes in Barangay Guadalupe and Sitio Holy Name in Barangay Mabolo.

Damage from both fires was pegged at P33,000. (BBT, TPT)

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
