AROUND 3,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs) registered in Mandaue City are set to receive their financial assistance.

The distribution will be held at the Mandaue Sports and Cultural Complex at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022, and Saturday, May 14, according to City Administrator Jamaal James Calipayan.

The cash aid distribution for PWDs pushes through after the lifting of election ban on government spending last May 8.

Qualified PWDs in Mandaue City are entitled to receive P3,000 each, the first half of the yearly P6,000 in financial aid they are entitled to receive.

Distribution of the cash aid for registered PWDs often occurs every April and December. But the first round of distribution had to be postponed to May or after elections due to the election ban, Calipayan said.

Qualified PWDs must bring one valid government ID and their PWD ID upon claiming the cash aid, Calipayan added.

Aside from the yearly cash aid for PWDs, the Mandaue City Government will also start its distribution of cash aid for 47,000 families who were affected by Typhoon Odette (Rai), which hit Cebu last Dec. 16, 2021.

The city’s 2,545 tricycle drivers and operators will also receive fuel subsidy.

Calipayan said Mayor Jonas Cortes, who won a fresh term, wants the cash aid be distributed as soon as possible.

The City has allocated P165 million for Odette victims, P120 million for senior citizens, P10 million for PWDs, and P13 million for fuel subsidy.
