4 fall in Dumaguete, Lapu-Lapu drug raids

FOUR persons were caught in separate drug busts in the cities of Dumaguete and Lapu-Lapu last Wednesday.

In Cebu City, police raided a marijuana plantation in a mountain village and seized P1.1 million worth of shabu and marijuana.

In Lapu-Lapu City, Jerome Protacio Villanueva and Rey Bersano Medalla were arrested in Barangays Basak and Pusok, respectively, by the teams of City Intelligence Branch Chief Mark Sucalit and City Drug Enforcement Unit Chief Jaime Tolentino.

The suspects yielded 1.96 grams of shabu worth more than P23,000, a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value.

In Dumaguete City, Ronel Yu Domen and Joefren Elorta Pis-an yielded 65 grams of shabu worth P708,000.

A .45 pistol and the suspects’ vehicle were also seized.

In a secluded portion of Sitio Mit-ol, Barangay Tagbao, Cebu City, police uprooted 1,100 marijuana plants worth P440,000. No cultivator was caught.

The arrested suspects will face complaints for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (KAL)
