4 firearms seized from pastor in Bohol

A PASTOR of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines was nabbed after he was found in possession of firearms and subversive documents when enforcement agencies served a search warrant on his house in Purok 5, Barangay San Jose in Mabini town, Bohol.

The pastor is Nathaniel Vallente, 52, a resident of the barangay. Seized from him were four .45-caliber pistols, four magazines, one unit of a hand grenade, various bullets for different kinds of firearms, and subversive documents of the communist New People’s Army.

The police’s background investigation revealed that Vallente is a member of the Tabada crime group that engages in gun-running activities across the province of Bohol.

He was also tagged as a target personality by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Bohol.

The joint operation was done through the cooperation of enforcement agencies, including CIDG 7, Regional Mobile Force Batallion 7, Bohol Police Provincial Office, Special Action Force, and 47th Infantry Batallion Philippine Army. (AYB)
