UP TO 4,000 police and emergency rescue personnel will be deployed to provide security during the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo festival next Sunday, August 28, 2022, the Cebu Provincial Government announced through its Sugbo News portal.

The joint personnel from the Cebu City Police Office, Cebu Police Provincial Office, disaster risk reduction and management office, traffic management office and emergency response team in Cebu City will be assigned along the parade route on Osmeña Boulevard and at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC), where the staging of the festival queen competition will be held.

The awarding of winners will be done on the second day, August 29, also at CCSC.

During the meeting of event stakeholders at the Capitol, the Visayan Electric also assured of uninterrupted electric power supply, especially at CCSC where the grand showdown competition will be held.

The Philippine Coast Guard Central Visayas also offered to ferry the four contingents from Camotes Group of Islands, as well as the three contingents from Bantayan Island.

The Capitol also planned to shut down cell phone signals and install signal jammers at the CCSC as part of its security measures, just like what the Cebu City Government did during the Sinulog festival. (ANV, TPT)
