63 new Covid cases reported in 3 metro cities

FOR four consecutive days, the Cebu City Health Department recorded more laboratory-negative, or recoveries, than new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

On Saturday, May 30, 2020, Mayor Edgardo Labella announced 166 recoveries and 60 new Covid-19 cases.

Of the 166 recoveries, 149 were from Barangay Mambaling, five from Barangay Guadalupe and 12 from Barangay Tejero.

Cebu City has a total of 958 laboratory-negative, which is equivalent to a 43.5 percent recovery rate.

Labella also said 34 Covid-19 patients staying at the Barangay Tejero isolation center were released on May 30.

The new cases came from Barangays Duljo (14), Pasil (three), Mambaling (six), Suba (two), Ermita (three), Camputhaw (one), Sawang Calero (two), Mabolo (seven), Lorega (two), Tejero (five), Labangon (one), Pardo (one), Tisa (three), Lahug (one), Quiot (one), Sambag 2 (two), Calamba (one), Tinago (two), Carreta (two) and one patient whose address is still unverified.

Cebu City has a total of 2,202 Covid-19 cases with 27 mortalities.

The CHD deducted two patients from the total number of cases after it found out that the patients are not city residents.

In Lapu-Lapu City, two new Covid-19 cases--a 45-year-old man from Subabasbas and a 22-year-old man from Mactan--were reported to authorities on May 30.

In his official Facebook (FB) page, Mayor Junard Chan said the two men were brought to the city's isolation facility.

Talisay City also reported one Covid-19 case, an 80-year-old woman from Barangay Tanke.

In his official FB page, Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr. said the woman has been confined in the city’s district hospital for the last week.

The patient reportedly suffers from hypertension with a history of peptic ulcer disease.

Gullas said her family was immediately quarantined and tested for Covid-19.
