68-year-old grandma, 5 others arrested in buy-bust in Dumaguete

A WIDOWED grandmother and five others were nabbed inside a drug den by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA 7) in Barangay Cadawinonan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Leia Alcantara, spokesperson for PDEA 7, identified the suspects as Elviera Sabido, 68, a widow, allegedly the owner of the drug den, and Jickie Romano, 23, who was said to have sold the illegal drugs to their customers who were also arrested during the raid, namely, Christian Balasabas, 21; Jaype Bautista, 25; Kathlyn Maligdong, 40; and Rojim Tipay, 27.

Seized from the drug den were packages of substance believed to be shabu amounting to P68,000 based on street value.

Alcantara said it took them a month to monitor the illegal activities of Sabido and Romano before they launched the anti-illegal drug operation.

The two suspects could allegedly dispose of 50 grams of shabu per week. (BBT, TPT)
