THE Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) plans to declare an “agricultural zone” at the end of the bridge to avoid congestion, a government official said.

“Gusto na namo mahibaw-an asa gyud ang final kay mao lage na, there is a need for us to declare sa tumoy sa tulay as agricultural area (We want to know the final because there is a need for us to declare on the end of the bridge as agricultural area),” Igacos vice mayor Orly Amit said in an interview with SunStar Davao Saturday, January 19.

Amit added that if not settled it might create a problem to the traffic flow of Davao to Samal Bridge.

He said that there is a need to declare agricultural zone in some areas so that there would limited structure to be established to prevent vehicle parking near the bridge which would congest the traffic flow.

Meanwhile, Amit added that details of the project were not yet disclosed but he said the Department of Works and Highways 11 went to their session in 2018 and presented the bridge project and its possible sites.

He also said that among the locations of the bridge is the Old Airport, Sasa to Barangay Caliclic, Igacos since it has the shortest distance. (RJC)
