THE monkey that escaped from its cage at the Nature Park of Argao town in Cebu has been recaptured.

Kent Rizon, head of the Argao Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), said the two persons who were bitten by the monkey have already been treated.

He said the victims were bitten after passing by the monkey that was on the side of the road.

He said there were four monkeys inside the park, aside from birds and rabbits.

"Naay gipang-buhi nga unggoy diha sa Nature Park unya nag bagyo, wala na pasudli kay daghang mga kahoy nga natumba didto pero gi atiman gihapon nang unggoya pero nakabuhi na siya kay gitaya na siguro ang iyang cage," said Rizon.

He added that the monkey was placed back on its cage after it was recaptured Thursday, June 23.

The DRRMO earlier warned residents in Argao to be vigilant and avoid the Nature Park for the meantime following the monkey’s escape.

The local government of Argao also warned the public Wednesday, June 22, saying: "Palihog magmatngon ta ug kung pwede distansya lang usa ta sa Nature park kay duha na ka incidente ang nahitabo karong adlawa kung ha-in nanakit ni ug duha ka tao. Palayo mo palihog ug naa ang unggoy."

Rizon said people should not touch or tease the animal to keep themselves safe. (ANV/LMY)
