THE village chief of Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City in Cebu denied he placed the barangay hall and the entire village on lockdown following the death of a 50-year-old tanod on Friday, July 10, 2020.

Poblacion Barangay Captain Edward Alesna said he ordered the disinfection of the barangay hall, not a lockdown.

A statement posted on Serbisyo Poblacion Facebook page on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 stated that the village watchman died in Talisay District Hospital due to internal bleeding caused by his ulcer.

The rapid test result showed that the tanod had no virus.

However, the dead was swabbed, as the hospital was following a health protocol.

The contact tracing followed from July 11 to July 12.

Alesna ordered the tanod's immediate family members to isolate themselves, as well as the tanod's colleagues.

"Apan walay lockdown nga gimando si Kap. Edward Alesna sama sa gibalita sa SunStar Superbalita," it said.

SunStar reported on July 12, 2020 that Barangay Poblacion in Talisay City and its barangay hall were placed on lockdown following the death of the tanod. (KAL)
