THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Central Visayas (BFAR 7) assisted the Municipality of Sibonga in southern Cebu on the proposed establishment of a seaweeds nursery in Barangay Abugon.

Technical experts were deployed to Abugon on November 16, 2021 to orient the seaweed growers about the project and check on the project site.

The team was headed by Edgardo Delfin, chief of the BFAR 7-Cebu Provincial Fishery Office and Joel Clapano, head of the Aquaculture Section of BFAR 7-Fisheries Production and Support Services Division.

The BFAR 7 personnel gave an overview about the project, especially on how to manage and maintain the seaweeds nursery. They also visited the area in Abugon where the proposed facility will be built.

The activity was participated by the members of Simala Bantay Dagat and the Kapunungang Mananagat-Maguuma Abugon Inc., which has been identified as the beneficiary and future managers of the seaweeds nursery.
