OVER 50,000 tilapia fingerlings were dispersed by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Central Visayas (BFAR 7) in the municipalities of Candijay and Guindulman in Bohol on March 30, 2022.

The aquaculture section of the BFAR 7’s Fisheries Production and Support Services Division initiated the activity in coordination with the Bohol Provincial Fishery Office and the local government units of Candijay and Guindulman, the agency reported on its official Facebook page.

Over 20,000 tilapia fingerlings were delivered and dispersed to three barangays in Candijay while a total of 30,000 fingerlings were also dispersed to three barangays in Guindulman.

The fingerlings were mostly dispersed to small water-impounding projects in the barangays.

Dispersing fingerlings, one of the BFAR 7’s main services, aims to boost the inland aquaculture by flourishing the number of stocks in Central Visayas.

The BFAR 7 has been active in distributing tilapia fingerlings since 2017 through its Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa.

The fingerlings were sourced from Clarin Freshwater Fish Farm in the town of Clarin, Bohol.
