THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Bfar) 7 Siquijor Provincial Fishery Office (PFO) participated in the province-led launching of the “Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita” program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Barangay Nonoc, Larena town, Siquijor on Monday, June 21, 2021.

The activity, spearheaded by the DA Provincial Agriculture Technology Coordinating Office (Patco) in Siquijor, gave an opportunity to local farmers and fishers to display their fresh produce, fish or fishery products and other commodities.

The Siquijor PFO assisted some fisherfolk individuals and associations to display their fresh harvest and fish products at the event, such as bangus (milkfish), tilapia, smoked fish, boneless bangus and bagoong (fermented fish), among others.

The activity was also joined by the Office of the Governor, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, the six local government units in the province and farmers and fisherfolk from the different municipalities.

The “Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita” program is a brainchild of Agriculture Secretary William Dar. It aims to ensure that food commodities are made available and accessible to low-income communities.

This program seeks to harness private sector participation, enhance the capacity of farmer and fisherfolk cooperatives and associations and engage community organizations’ participation in the food supply distribution system.
