POLICE have arrested one of the alleged killers of Japanese businesswoman Junko Hamada.

The suspect, identified as Mary Jane Gomez Aguilar, was caught in Mohon 2, Filter Site, Barangay Tisa, Cebu City, last September 21.

Senior Superintendent Royina Garma, the Cebu City Police Office director, considered the case closed.

She said Hamada's Japanese husband is the alleged mastermind of the murder that happened last August 24.

Aguilar's male cousin identified Mary Jane and her boyfriend, the gunman, as the killers of Hamada, who was driving her Mitsubishi Montero Sport when shot.

Investigation showed that Hamada and her husband had a fallout over financial matters.

Garma said Aguilar's cousin saw Mary Jane speaking with Hamada's husband.

Mary Jane admitted that she was part of the plan to kill Hamada. She reportedly knew Hamada's husband, but she did not elaborate.

Garma said she instructed her personnel to bring Mary Jane and her cousin to the Public Attorney's Office to get their sworn statements.

A murder complaint will be filed against Mary Jane, the gunman and Hamada's husband. (KAL)
