A 65-year-old candle vendor was found dead near the Hall of Justice in Carcar City, Cebu on Friday morning, July 1, 2022.

Lieutenant Colonel Ardioleto Cabagnot, chief of Carcar City Police Station, identified the victim as Virgilio Barliso, of Barangay Can-asujan, Carcar.

Cabagnot said that the son of the victim, Ronald Barliso, reported the incident in their station around 5:30 a.m. on Friday.

The victim's wife, Prudencia, told responding policemen that she noticed that his husband had unusual snoring while they were sleeping near the main gate of the Hall of Justice.

She then woke him up but the victim was already unresponsive.

The wife also said that his husband had no history of illness nor experienced any discomfort prior to the incident.

Cabagnot said that the couple were selling candles with the main gate as their dwelling place as they had no home.

Cabagnot concluded that no foul play was involved in the death of the victim. (GDC, TPT)
