PROSPECTIVE tourists in Cebu Province need only present a printed confirmation of a hotel booking or a boat ticket and a document that they secured the booking from the Capitol’s online portal.

Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia made the announcement during the reopening of tourist destinations in the town of Sta. Fe in Bantayan Island on Friday, Oct. 16, 2020.

The governor said she was addressing the concerns of tourism industry stakeholders who were afraid that strict requirements like a medical certificate as part of quarantine protocol would discourage guests.

The Provincial Tourism Task Force (PTTF) also clarified that the confirmation from the Capitol’s online portal will afford visitors similar distinctions as locally stranded individuals, authorized persons outside residence and overseas Filipino workers.

During the meeting on Friday, Garcia, the PTTF and Sta. Fe’s tourism stakeholders agreed that visitors would need to show a QR code of their confirmed booking from Capitol’s online portal before they could board a boat for Sta. Fe at the Hagnaya Port in San Remigio.

They must also observe health guidelines and wear face masks and face shields and carry air purifiers, among others.

On Saturday, Oct. 17, Garcia inspected the ongoing runway extension project at the 29-hectare Bantayan Island Airport in Barangay Okoy in Sta. Fe.

Garcia was accompanied by national and local officials, including Department of Tourism 7 Director Shalimar Tamano and Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) General Manager Steve Dicdican.
