THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has reassigned its eight police station and special unit heads whose stay has exceeded the standard two-year tour of duty.

The chief of the Parian Police Station, Maj. Armando Labora, was transferred to the Abellana Police Station as its new commander.

Labora’s former post was given to Maj. Ardiolito Cabagnot, whose leadership post at the Mobile Patrol Unit was transferred to Maj. Albert Quilitorio.

Maj. Elisandro Quijano is now the chief of the City Community Affairs and Development Unit.

Former Guadalupe Police Station head Maj. Janelito Marquez is the new chief of the Labangon Police Station.

Maj. Jonathan dela Cerna, former Labangon police chief, is the Guadalupe Police Station’s new commander.

Talamban police chief Maj. Jonathan Bethoven Taneo traded places with Carbon police chief Maj. Alvin Llamedo.

The turnover ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021 was presided over by CCPO Director Col. Josefino Ligan inside his office.

Ligan said the reassignments did not mean the police officials had transgressions. The transfers, he said, are necessary as some of the CCPO officials must move up in ranks.

Efforts against Covid-19

Ligan praised the reassigned police officials for their campaign against illegal drugs and their contributions to the government’s efforts in implementing the community quarantine measures to slow down the spread of Covid-19.

The CCPO chief has ordered all the 11 police station commanders to coordinate with barangay officials in their respective jurisdictions and help them in ensuring residents are following the minimum health protocol such as wearing masks and observing social distancing.

Marquez, the new Labangon police chief, said he will meet the village chiefs of Tisa and Punta Princesa as these two barangays are in the list of barangays in Cebu City with high numbers of Covid-19 cases.

He will possibly suggest to the barangay captains to follow the Barangay Guadalupe model, imposing travel restrictions within the village every Sunday.

Firearms turnover

The Cebu City Government, through its peace and order program, turned over on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, 10 M-16 rifles and ammunition to the CCPO.

The turnover ceremony was led by Mayor Edgardo Labella’s representatives City Councilor Phillip Zafra and City Administrator Floro Casas Jr.

Ligan received the donations from the City.

Casas said the rifles were among the firearms recalled by the former administration because of defects.

The City purchased new parts to fix the rifles. (AYB, PAC)
