PERSONNEL of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) are not allowed to go on leave until after the Sinulog festivities are over.

This was the instruction of Mayor Edgardo Labella to CCTO officer-in-charge Alma Barandog-Casimero.

Labella said 702 traffic enforcers will be deployed starting on January 9, 2020, which is the first day of the novena masses for the feast in honor of the Sto. Niño.

The CCTO has 635 regular personnel and 67 job order employees.

The feast day and the Sinulog Grand Parade will be on Sunday, January 19.

CCTO chief administration officer Lyntoni Sable said each traffic enforcer will render 12 hours of duty every day, starting on January 9.

Casimero said the enforcers will focus on the traffic situation in the vicinity of the Basilica del Sto. Niño in the downtown area.

The CCTO will soon release a list of no-park zones. Vehicles that will park in these areas will either be clamped or towed.

Labella has also declared the six-kilometer Sinulog Grand Parade route as a no-park zone.

The mayor said he will personally monitor traffic enforcers.

“I will go around and inspect the CCTO personnel if they are in their specific assignments,” he said. (PAC/KAL)
