CCTO logs 41 bike lane violations in 5 days

THE Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) has apprehended 41 violators who violated bike lane rules from Sept. 13 to 17, 2021.

Based on its Facebook post, about 29 motorcycles were also impounded and one vehicle was clamped during the CCTO operation apprehending motorcycle riders without helmets or without registration at Yakal/Villalon Capitol Site and Osmeña Blvd. on Sept. 21. A total of 33 citation tickets were issued to the violators during the operation.

In a text message, CCTO spokesperson Paul Gotiong told SunStar Cebu that most of the apprehended violators on the bike lanes came from the areas of Brgy. Labangon, V. Rama St., N. Bacalso Ave. and downtown Cebu.

Gotiong said illegal parking on bike lanes is one of the common violations committed.

The violators were issued citation tickets and must settle the P1,000 administrative fee within 72 hours under City Ordinance 801. (MVE)
