Cebu City Covid-19 cases rise to 760

THIRTY new cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) have been recorded in Cebu City Friday, May 1, 2020, according to an update from the Cebu City Health Department (CHD).

Of the 30 new cases, two are from Barangay Apas; two from Barangay Lahug; one from Tanguile, Busay; two from Barangay Punta Princesa; one from Bulacao Pardo; four from Tinabangay in Mambaling; two from Suba; seven from Barangay Luz; one from Calumpang, Inayawan; one from Nasipit, Talamban; four from Cabajar, Guadalupe; one from Juana Osmeña in Kamputhaw; one from Sitio Negative in Carreta; and one new from Cebu City Jail.

The Covid-19 patients from Apas are from Sitio Baca and PC Hills.

In Lahug, the cases are from Nivel Hills and Sunset Drive.

Lahug Barangay Captain Hazel Ann Empleo said the one tagged from Nivel Hills is one of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who arrived in Cebu from Manila on April 28.

Empleo emphasized that the OFW is not in their barangay yet, since all the OFWs arrived in Cebu on April 28 are in quarantine.

For the other cases, Empleo said contract tracing is still ongoing.

In Tanguile, Busay, Barangay Captain Maria Christina Famador said the CHD has not relayed the information to the barangay yet.

The cases from Punta Princesa are from Tres de Abril.

Punta Princesa Barangay Captain Eleno Andales Jr. said he is still coordinating with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) to investigate on the new cases.

This is the first reported case from Punta Princesa.

In Luz, four came from Sitio Sto. Niño while three from Sitio San Vicente.

Luz now has 193 Covid-19 patients.

The one case from Barangay Carreta came from Sitio Negative.

In Cebu City Jail, there are now 333 individuals infected with novel coronavirus.

Cebu City now has a total of 760 Covid-19 cases with seven mortalities and 21 laboratory negative. (JJL)
