Cebu City to extend fuel discount cards validity

Ivan Rey R. Tan

THE Cebu City Government said it will extend the validity of its fuel discount cards and has mulled partnerships with more oil companies, as fuel prices are a few pesos away from reaching P100 per liter.

Lawyer Gerardo Carillo, chairman of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, told reporters on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, that many motorists have requested the extension of the program.

In April this year, the Cebu City Government partnered with Phoenix fuel company to launch the “Gasolina Mo, Sagot Ko” project where public utility vehicles can avail themselves of at least a P2 discount per liter.

But Carillo said the discount cards have an expiry date of June 30.

Carillo assured motorists that they will be distributing new discount cards soon, as more fuel companies have also expressed their intention to join the program.

"The mayor called me to negotiate with the fuel companies to extend the program. Okay ra sila nga ma extend. We will be issuing another IDs kay ni apil na ang uban fuel companies," said Carillo.
