A MEMBER of the Cebu City Transportation Office and an elderly woman got injured after being hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) while they were crossing a pedestrian lane along the national road in Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City on Friday, June 9, 2023.

Staff Sergeant Alfredo Macabudbud, traffic investigator of Inayawan Police Station 7, identified the victims as traffic enforcer Angela Garcia, 50, and Emily Polidario, 63.

According to Macabudbud, Garcia helped Polidario cross the street when they were hit by the Toyota Fortuner driven by Ian Yap Maurin, 51, from Pinamungahan town, midwest Cebu.

Macabudbud said Maurin was reportedly in a hurry and missed seeing the two victims because the sun's rays blurred his vision.

Both victims were brought to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the police have prepared a case against the driver if the victims file a complaint. (BBT, TPT)
