Cebu Province opens 2nd Malasakit Center

THE Cebu Provincial Government opened its second Malasakit Center on April 27, 2021, at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City, Cebu.

It is the 103rd Malasakit Center in the country and the sixth in Cebu.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop for government, medical and financial assistance for all Filipinos, particularly the poor and indigent patients.

The first Malasakit Center in Cebu Province was opened at the Cebu South Medical Center in Talisay City in 2020.

The other four Malasakit centers in Cebu are at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City, Eversley Childs Sanitarium and General Hospital in Mandaue City, St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital in Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital.

Present during the opening was Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go, who authored Republic Act 11463 or the Malasakit Center Act that was signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte on Dec. 2, 2019.

Also present were Deputy Speaker Pablo John Garcia, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino, Carcar City Mayor Mercedita Apura, Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr., Naga City Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong and Sibonga Mayor Lionel Bacaltos. (NRC/PR)
